The Customer Service Standard Seminar

Did you know the customer service standard is now a regulation and that private sector organizations in the Province of Ontario will be required to comply?

AMF is offering a one-hour seminar to explain the new customer service standard under the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, 2005. It was designed to give business owners and managers an overview of the regulation and what it means to your business. It is not meant for detailed staff training since every business needs to tailor its training to its employees and customers.

The seminar is targeted toward the management of small and mid-sized retailers and the hospitality sector. It includes: 1. a video presentation about how businesses can reach a huge and growing market when they provide accessible customer service; 2. a discussion of the obligations of the standard and what they mean for businesses; and, 3. tips for providing excellent customerservice to people with disabilities. The seminar, together with the course notes and a list of compliance resources offered by the Accessibility Directorate of Ontario will help participants understand their obligations and how to meet them. The impact of the Customer Service Seminar is strongly enhanced by a professional trainer who just happens to have a disability. This added perspective can make the course very meaningful by putting a face to the benefits of accessible customer service. It’s a fully packed hour that will leave you enthusiastic, motivated and moxified. What's more? - it's priceless!

The seminar was produced under the EnAbling Change Partnership Program of the Accessibility Directorate of Ontario, developed in consultation with members of the retail and hospitality sectors.

The Customer Service Video

A 6 minute video is great for giving a quick context for what in it for Ontario's business owners. It shows how easy it will be to attract and maintain a larger market segment. It sets the right tone for the seminar and stimulates lots of discussion.

The video is available in English or French; closed-captioned; or open captioned.
